If you’re in Lower Manhattan and looking for a really inexpensive lunch or dinner of solid Turkish food, I strongly recommend The Country Kebab on 76 Fulton Street, on the corner of Gold Street.
We have a obsessive habit of always buying their simple but delicious falafel wraps (only $3.95 and it's big enough for a full meal), but they also have a wide range of casual Turkish food, all of it good.
This place is one of the least expensive restaurants in the area, so don’t expect to be impressed by the décor or ambiance. But it is surprisingly nice to sit by their big glass windows and people-watch, as this street corner now bustles with an interesting range of people around the clock.
And you’d never guess that this hole-in-the-wall restaurant would have such amazing baklava, but here it sits on their counter every day. Only $1.00 per slice or $2.50 for three slices. A relative bargain--at least for Manhattan.
